The AGS is dedicated to promoting sustainable practices and improving practices within the geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering sectors. As a trade association, our sustainability policy reflects our commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic viability across our industry.

Part of the AGS’s mission is to agree and publish guidelines on good practice and on ethical and professional matters. Following the establishment of the Sustainability Working Group with the aim of promoting sustainable good practice, the AGS wishes to present a policy to guide the activities of the AGS itself.

Within the direct control of the AGS are a number of events, meetings and publications. It is the responsibility of the AGS to ensure that the organisation and delivery of these elements is undertaken in line with best practice in regards to sustainability while still meeting the needs of its membership.

This policy is relevant to the business practices of the AGS itself. For the membership, sustainability commitments are laid out in the AGS Sustainability Charter, which can be downloaded here.
