Work-related stress is the response people may have when presented with work demands and pressures that are not matched to their knowledge and abilities and which challenge their ability to cope. Work related stress can be a significant cause of illness and has been linked to increased incidence of sickness absence, high staff turnover, decreased productivity and the potential for increased accident rates because of not being present in the moment/ distractions.
It is important to note that managing workplace stress may require tailored interventions and solutions to deal with different individuals and organisations. This guidance document identifies the important factors in administering controls for stress in the workplace and places an emphasis on wellness comprising good mental, physical, social, and financial health.
